What's In Mom's Bag Thursday Blog Hop!

I'm joining Mr. Jacob's Mom's What's In Mom's Bag Thursday Blog Hop! and I hope you will join in the fun of going through your bag too!

When I became a mom 6 years ago, I have learned that a mommy's bag will never be big enough. I just can't leave the house without all these essentials in my bag! I guess I got used to organizing my child's entire stuff inside his diaper bag, which, by the way, became also my bag for more than two years.

Then I went back to work 4 years ago and had to commute every day. I was so delighted when my husband bought me a very large vinyl bag from one of the Christmas bazaars we went to. My co-workers always teased me that I look like I have my house inside my bag because of its bulkiness and heaviness. I didn't care; I liked my big, roomy and waterproof bag that I can just haul around anytime, That is, well, until the straps got broken and hubby gave me a better big bag on our 4th anniversary!

This is how the inside of my bag looks like before I took everything out. It looks messy right?

And this is after I cleaned out the paid bills, receipts, and all kinds of tissues/napkins I’ve collected from different places we’ve been to.

1. My almost 4 year-old Ralph Lauren bag from hubby
2. My leather cellphone case with my BB phone from hubby
3. An eco bag (that you can fold) from my sister-in-law Racquel
4. Car keys, house keys, and duplicate car keys (I am also paranoid that I might leave the car keys inside the locked vehicle)
5. Notepad and pen, plus a candy or two sometimes
6. Wahvu's Hotwheels (to entertain him), a lavender spray to calm down Wahvu when he gets too hyper (gift from my sister Jean), alcohol spray, and toy whistle + flashlight (both for emergency)
7. Prayer book, rosary, St. Benedict Medallion, Miraculous Medal of Mama Mary
8. Leather coin purse and Liz Claiborne wallet from my sister Jean (I have too much stuff here too!)
9. Wet tissues and some napkins from food take outs
10. Bamboo fan and blotting papers (to keep me fresh, LOL!)

And ohI have this bag organizer (Pockets) that hubby gave me, but honestly, with all my things stuffed inside, I still go crazy whenever I go through it!

I use the Pockets to store my lipsticks and kikay stuff, medicines, first aid kit, calling cards, and also for placing hubby's cellphones when he's with me.

I don't think you can find a bag that can be messier than mine! I still have another bag (will all the essentials) in the car that I have to check soon. ☺

Care to share what's inside your bag?

Desserts at Slice (High Street)

After our sumptuous meal at Heroes, we decided to visit Slice at High Street for some desserts.

Wahvu just can't get enough of these sweets from Slice, sold only at Heroes.

A visit to Slice is always on our list whenever we go south to see relatives. We always make sure to drop by Bonifacio High Street on our way home and get a box of muffins or cupcakes for Wahvu's school baon.

Wahvu already ate the other Choco Yema Cupcake
before I had the chance to take pictures of it. LOL!

From a kiosk (while Slice was still being constructed) to a restaurant, we've always enjoyed our visit here.

Slice (January 2012)

Slice (January 2012)

I've always loved the Slice Paninis! (Slice February 2012)

My husband Louie, with the gorgeous Sen. Pia Cayetano (who owns Slice),
and Direk Lino Cayetano.
Slice (Oct. 27,2012)

Since we were still stuffed with our dinner, we had a hard time choosing on what to eat. Everything on the menu is yummy, aargh! Thanks to our server Lanne (hope she gets to read this), she was very helpful and was more than happy to suggest the best desserts for us.

Our friend Alda and I went for the Cupcake Banana Split. Oh, it's just so heavenly delicious!

Alda is all smiles!
Hubby and Wahvu got Caramel Yema Chiffon Cake, Rocky Road Blended, and Melon Banana Splash Slushee.

Thumbs up to the Caramel Yema Chiffon Cake!

Guess who finished all of this? ☺ Ang sarap!

Wahvu really loved his Melon Banana Splash!
I tried it and it's so refreshing with just the  right sweetness.
Earlier that day, Slice gave free cupcakes to visitors for BGC's Trick or Treat event. See it here http://instagram.com/p/RT81FdvIuI/

The cupcakes are just so cute!

And for me, the biggest treat that day is meeting the Slice owner: gorgeous Senator Pia Cayetano. I still can't stop raving about her, she's really nice and so gorgeous. Thank you so much for the sweet treats, Sen. Pia!!!

Lovin' the good vibes here ♥

It was another blissful day capped with desserts at Slice High Street. Hoping to be here again soon!

Heroes Meet & Greet with Iron Man and War Machine

Last Saturday's meet and greet with Iron Man and War Machine at Heroes in Bonifacio High Street was one marvelous opportunity that we can't pass up. Who wants to miss the chance to pose for pictures with your favorite superhero? Definitely not Wahvu! ☺

The event started on time at 3:30 pm, and there was a long queue for almost 2 hours. Iron Man and War Machine took a break for a while, and no sooner when they stepped outside, the kids and kids at heart were more than eager to meet them!

We also had the wonderful opportunity to meet the good-looking Cayetanos here! Here's Wahvu's photo with Taguig City's beautiful Mayor Lani Cayetano and Heroes' Ren Cayetano.

We also had the chance to look around Heroes.

Costumes for kids and collectibles are available here too!

Original movie posters hang on the wall.

Wahvu is so amazed with the collections!

We also ordered some of the best sellers in the menu.

The Korean Beef is simply the best! I had to get another order of java rice.

Wahvu wanted the Grilled Wings. Sarap!

For his dessert, he got some cakes. We were informed that these are Slice High Street's Red Velvet and Chocolate Cakes.

Wahvu ate the sweets like a superhero! ☺

Our friend Alda got the Bacon Style Tapa, and she said it's one of the best she has tasted so far. Too bad we forgot to take pictures!

It was a good day indeed --- great food, great company, and fun-filled too!

Homemade Face and Body Paint for Halloween and Parties

We are going to Wahvu's Halloween Party in school today. There is a special prize waiting for the kid who will come in the scariest costume, which made Wahvu eager to join the contest.

Wahvu has chosen to dress up as Toshio, the Japanese boy in the thriller movie Ju-on: The Grudge.

Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Juonthegrudgeposter.jpg

Hubby and I considered buying a white body paint to cover his face and whole body. But my kuripot side nudged me and whispered, "Homemade na lang". Hmmm, why not?

I searched online and after compiling many pages of DIY Body and Face Paint tips, here's what I finally came up to.

Ingredients:

6 teaspoons cornstarch
3 teaspoons cold cream
3 teaspoons water

Place the cornstarch in a clean plastic container. Then add the cold cream, and then the water.

(I used Pond's Ageless night cream as substitute for the cold cream because it's the only thing I found in the grocery. Heck, the Pond's cold cream that I remember is the one that my mother used nightly when I was a little girl! I wonder if they still manufacture that one.)

I mixed the ingredients and here's the result.

A sweet-smelling (the scent must be from the night cream) sticky goo with thick consistency that glides on smoothly when applied to your skin. And it can be wiped with a wet cloth and washed easily with water.

Let's see what happens later, still keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that Wahvu won't throw a tantrum later. ☺

Ninja Weapon: Not For Kids!

As a parent, I am vigilant about things that can influence my son in a good or bad way. Like my husband, I am very concerned about the media and community where he can be exposed to violence.

During one of our trips to the mall, we found this in the toys section of a novelty store.

My husband showed this to me, and I actually thought it's a plastic template or stencil that our kid can use in his Art Club. I looked at the label and then I realized what it is: Ninja Weapon!

It looks harmless right? But this is much like a brass knuckle that gangsters use when they get into gang fights. Yes, it's giving me shivers now just thinking about it.

It's made out of plastic and very handy --- who will even think it can be a lethal weapon? What's scarier is that you can keep it in your bag and pass through metal detectors in airports and malls. If a security guard will see this in your bag, do you think he'll know it's a kind of a restricted weapon?

It's just a small piece of plastic but try poking your arm with it. I felt a sharp pain when I did it, can you think of how much damage and harm it can do when it is used as an instrument of violence?

I'm hoping and praying that this will not get into the wrong hands and encourage violence.

Vegetable Costume Parade Contest

The big day has arrived!

At last, after many days of class suspensions due to heavy rains and flooding, the culmination of all activities for the Nutrition Month has come. And because of many weeks of postponement, it is celebrated alongside the Buwan ng Wika activities.

Nevertheless, it's a perfect day for everyone with God giving us a good weather and fun-filled entertainment from the students and teachers.

Wahvu is happy to represent the Prep PM Class as a corn that day. I am happy that his adviser, Teacher Ruby, liked the corn costume that hubby and I created for Wahvu.

See here how we made the corn costume for Wahvu.

Not a sign of any tantrum from our sweet kid. Thank God!

He patiently waited for his turn to be called onstage, alongside the other contestants.

And Wahvu sweetly smiled while they are being presented to the judges. With him is his partner Margaret Ayento, his fellow Prep representative. She is representing the Prep AM class, and wearing a broccoli costume.

Wahvu jumped for joy when his name was announced as the first placer for the Vegetable Clay Molding. See his vegetable clay moldings here.

Wahvu brought home the First Runner-Up award for the Vegetable Costume Parade Contest. Thank you very much! :)
