Heroes Meet & Greet with Iron Man and War Machine

Last Saturday's meet and greet with Iron Man and War Machine at Heroes in Bonifacio High Street was one marvelous opportunity that we can't pass up. Who wants to miss the chance to pose for pictures with your favorite superhero? Definitely not Wahvu! ☺

The event started on time at 3:30 pm, and there was a long queue for almost 2 hours. Iron Man and War Machine took a break for a while, and no sooner when they stepped outside, the kids and kids at heart were more than eager to meet them!

We also had the wonderful opportunity to meet the good-looking Cayetanos here! Here's Wahvu's photo with Taguig City's beautiful Mayor Lani Cayetano and Heroes' Ren Cayetano.

We also had the chance to look around Heroes.

Costumes for kids and collectibles are available here too!

Original movie posters hang on the wall.

Wahvu is so amazed with the collections!

We also ordered some of the best sellers in the menu.

The Korean Beef is simply the best! I had to get another order of java rice.

Wahvu wanted the Grilled Wings. Sarap!

For his dessert, he got some cakes. We were informed that these are Slice High Street's Red Velvet and Chocolate Cakes.

Wahvu ate the sweets like a superhero! ☺

Our friend Alda got the Bacon Style Tapa, and she said it's one of the best she has tasted so far. Too bad we forgot to take pictures!

It was a good day indeed --- great food, great company, and fun-filled too!

Corned Beef Sinigang

It's a rainy Thursday again and Wahvu and I spent the whole afternoon electric fan-less, with just the windows opened and curtains drawn. A perfect bed weather again!

But just as when it's already dinner time, Wahvu suddenly craved for Sinigang (Sour Broth). Oh no, how I am going to run to the grocery at the last minute?

I scoured the pantry for ingredients that I can use and luckily I have it in stock!

So tonight I am going to cook Corned Beef Sinigang for Wahvu, it's an old recipe I learned from Chef Tristan Encarnacion many years ago. So my guess is you might be familiar with this recipe already.

Ingredients:

String beans
Pechay (or any leafy vegetable of your choice)
Onions (I used 3 large sizes, it's Wahvu's favorite)
Tomatoes (Optional)
Corned Beef (I use Swift Corned Beef small pouches)

Knorr Sinigang Recipe Mix (any variant will do - Sampalok, Miso, or Gabi)

How to do it:
First, sauté the onions and tomatoes.

Add the corned beef.

Add water, then the Sinigang Mix.

When it boils, I let it simmer for 5-10 minutes in medium heat.

Then I add the vegetables. Boil, and then remove from heat.

 Serve warm with rice.

Homemade Face and Body Paint for Halloween and Parties

We are going to Wahvu's Halloween Party in school today. There is a special prize waiting for the kid who will come in the scariest costume, which made Wahvu eager to join the contest.

Wahvu has chosen to dress up as Toshio, the Japanese boy in the thriller movie Ju-on: The Grudge.

Hubby and I considered buying a white body paint to cover his face and whole body. But my kuripot side nudged me and whispered, "Homemade na lang". Hmmm, why not?

I searched online and after compiling many pages of DIY Body and Face Paint tips, here's what I finally came up to.

Ingredients:

6 teaspoons cornstarch
3 teaspoons cold cream
3 teaspoons water

Place the cornstarch in a clean plastic container. Then add the cold cream, and then the water.

(I used Pond's Ageless night cream as substitute for the cold cream because it's the only thing I found in the grocery. Heck, the Pond's cold cream that I remember is the one that my mother used nightly when I was a little girl! I wonder if they still manufacture that one.)

I mixed the ingredients and here's the result.

A sweet-smelling (the scent must be from the night cream) sticky goo with thick consistency that glides on smoothly when applied to your skin. And it can be wiped with a wet cloth and washed easily with water.

Let's see what happens later, still keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that Wahvu won't throw a tantrum later. ☺
